1) You can't question faith.

The religious texts are believed despite mountains of evidence against them- If they were anything other than 'Holy' they would be sitting next to Harry Potter and Twilight right now. 'Because God said so' or 'Because I have faith' does not prove anything, anymore than me believing in Dragons because I saw one on a Welsh Flag and my flatmate told me the DO exist. It is also completely illogical for a society which relies in science to have such an attitude, I know enough from my boring statistics work that you need a LOT of evidence just to say 'this does not disprove the hypothesis'. But if I say 'you don't get healed by magic water' I'm ganna go to hell.

2) It stands in the way of scientific discoveries and evidence.

Religion prevents real science from being developed and understood by a significant amount of society, such as Geneses being taught in schools as fact, and Darwin being given as much regard as a crazy homeless man shouting in the street.  The non faithful having to constantly be respectful of new advances, an example cloning as this is 'playing God'. It's not evil, it's not immoral. It's just science.

3) Made up morals.

Biblical scripture is now being used as a weapon for modern society. The Pope has said it's unethical in for Africans to be using condoms. This is costing people lives. But obviously, AIDS is OUR fault for allowing gay men in society. It's a PUNISHMENT from a higher power. Not a bacterium just doing its thing. And with that logic, skin cancer is punishment for enjoying the sun. Take that bitches! (God is sounding lovely at this point).

Just want to make a quick point here about how much gang rape, incest and murder there is in the first Testament. Not somewhere I want to get my morals from. Here are some examples-

"And Lot went up to Zoar, and stayed in the mountains, and his two daughters with him.... Then the firstborn said to the younger, 'Our father is old, and there is not a man on earth to come in to us after the manner of the earth. Come, let us make our father drink wine, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve our family through our father.' So they made their father drink wine that night, and the first-born went in and lay with her father; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. And it came about on the morrow, that the first-born said to the younger, 'Behold, I lay last night with my father; let us make him drink wine tonight also; then you go in and lie with him, that we may preserve our family through our father.' So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger arose and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father."
Genesis 19:30-36

'Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly. Now behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with a man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like...'"
Genesis 19:4-8

"While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, 'Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him.' The owner of the house went outside and said to them, 'No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing. Look, here is my virgin daughter, and his concubine. I will bring them out to you now, and you can use them and do to them whatever you wish. But to this man, don't do such a disgraceful thing.' But the men would not listen to him. So the man took his concubine and sent her outside to them, and they raped her and abused her throughout the night, and at dawn they let her go. At daybreak the woman went back to the house where her master was staying, fell down at the door and lay there until daylight. When her master got up in the morning and opened the door of the house and stepped out to continue on his way, there lay his concubine, fallen in the doorway of the house, with her hands on the threshold. He said to her, 'Get up; let's go.' But there was no answer. Then the man put her on his donkey and set out for home. When he reached home, he took a knife and cut up his concubine, limb by limb, into twelve parts and sent them into all the areas of Israel."
Judges 19:22-29

4) Guilt

Followers of Religion follow a strict, contradicting work, for if they don't they will be punished by the man in the sky. Natural human instincts, such as the desire to mate and be sexual are thought of as evil unless they are in a specific environment. The fact that female genital mutilation is still happening so females can't have orgasms or feel pleasure from sexual intercourse is just disgusting.

5) Hate

People of very strong faiths seem to hate everything that disagrees with Holy Books or anything which they find difficult to understand. Homosexuals for example. And Richard Dawkins.

6) Scientific vs Religious inequality

Scientists on the whole are careful about not offending Religion, as for one, they can't disprove God. However it seems perfectly fine for anyone of faith to openly slag of scientists and tell them they are DEFINITELY going to hell. Also every so often some Religious nut in America will kill and abortion doctor, or blow up the surgery. Love thy neighbour or what?!

7) Paedophiles.

And boy, dosen't there seems to be a lot of them in the Catholic Church?

8) Honour Killings

Kill your daughter because she was raped/fell in love/is pregnant with being married? Seems PERFECTLY reasonable. (Now THAT'S sarcasm).

9) Religion doesn't separate itself from Government

Why have people fought and died to protect democracy in order to for it to be dictated by an old book? Decisions are still being influenced by Church law, rather than modern culture. Women in Ireland can't have abortions preformed on them in there country because the government is still overly influenced by the Church. Silly. It's a medical question, not a Religious one. It's also the WOMEN'S choice, not anyone else's.

10) Martyrs aka 'Suicide bombers'

Religion is a force so powerful that people are willing to die for, killing innocent civilians. A promise of favours and eternal happiness from God is barbaric.
There is nothing more I can really say on this subject, just that it's sad, immoral and wouldn't happen without Religion.
I think I could of done 100 reasons....

Anyways, I don't mind hate mail or whatever, it's just MY opinion from my experiences with Religion, and I do feel it is immoral and will never be something I will be a part of.
